About STRUT
Founded in 2002, by Gabrielle Sullivan and Sue Peacock, STRUT dance has since grown into the main support organisation for the contemporary dance sector in Western Australia. STRUT connects quality contemporary dance with audiences and aims to promote innovative choreography and excellent practice by engaging with a diverse community of artists, locally, nationally, and internationally. STRUT's top priority is to ensure high quality work is produced by WA artists and to bring more people to experience and appreciate contemporary dance.
STRUT, a hub where professional dancers can connect through a creative dance network, is located in the King Street Arts Centre in the heart of Perth and has eighty members.
Each year STRUT dance initiates a curated program of choreographic activities and offers a range of responsive programs to support its members including:
Creative residencies both curated and responsive
International exchanges
Studio showings and in-theatre seasons
Regular training and workshops
Administrative, auspicing and publicity support
STRUT dance is a partner of Artrage, Critical Path, Dancehouse and the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts.
