STRUT dance welcomes you to a showcase of the latest short works from WA's thriving independent dance scene.

Presented in a studio setting, SHORT CUTS provides choreographers with a forum where they can share new ideas and concepts.

"The SHORT CUTS 2011 season is a great opportunity to sit up close, watch dancers with sweaty limbs, and a chance to see young ones and developing choreographers' career progression. There is something for everyone", says Artistic Program Manager of STRUT dance, Sue Peacock.

With 14 choreographed dance performances and a total of over 20 dancers, the program will be split across 2 weeknights with both sections to be performed on Saturday and Sunday.

Ms Peacock describes this year's offering as "A mixed bag of early works and much of this program is new with a huge range of aesthetics from humour, to serious themes, but then I've got two reindeers lost in a forest in mine! The idea could be anything the artist wants to explore, it could just last for 10 minutes or made into a full work. The range will be very dynamic.

The really great thing about this season is where we have the idea at its newest and freshest, step one in the creative process. SHORT CUTS was created as the first step before funding applications are embarked on, as an opportunity for feedback and an opportunity to perform while being seen by practitioners".
