GROUNDWORKS

APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN

Groundworks is an opportunity in 2022 for independent artists to present their work in a supported theatre setting. Groundworks is a platform that supports mid-length presentation for independent artists, allowing them to test ideas in front of an audience in a live-theatrical setting.

Two works will be selected, and will each receive a budget of $15,000.

‚ÄčIn 2022, Groundworks will be a double bill of independent contemporary dance from two choreographers/choreographic teams, presented from 17-20 August at the Dolphin Theatre. Dance and physical theatre artists are invited to submit an expression of interest for inclusion in the program. Works should have had at least one development period, but do not have to be performance ready. The finished work should be between 20 and 30 minutes in length.

You must be a STRUT Dance member to apply for this opportunity. If you are not a member, you will need to sign up HERE prior to submitting your application.

The selected artists will also participate in an audience Q&A during the season, facilitated by Dr Renee Newman.

Works eligible for consideration for Groundworks include:

 - Short Cuts – the 2022 and 2021 program

 - STRUT SEED Residencies – all SEEDs from 2022 and 2021 undertaken prior to the application closing date

 - Independent choreographic developments funded through external sources and organisations, with development undertaken in either 2022 or 2021

- Works presented between 2021 and the application date in 2022, that would like to undergo further development
