Brooke Leeder


Brooke Leeder

Born in Perth, Brooke Leeder graduated from John Curtin College of the Arts in 1996 and the Victorian College of the Arts in 2000 with a Bachelor of Dance. Brooke is a founding member of trike with her VCA peers, who produced, choreographed and funded many performances over four years, and they were awarded the Best Choice Award in the 2000 Melbourne Fringe Festival. She has also performed with Frances d'Ath in Dead White and Stephanie Lake's Love is the Cause both at Dancehouse in Carlton.

As a member of Phillip Adams Balletlab, she was part of the original development of Upholster and toured with the company, performing at the Adelaide Arts Market, Brisbane Powerhouse and the Sydney Opera House in both Upholster and Amplification.
In 2002, Brooke and Kyle Kremerskothen choreographed and performed The Man and his Wife for the Melbourne International Arts Festivals Spiegeltent.

Brooke has performed in Phillippa Clarke's G-Nome at PICA and While We Wait, in Bianca Martin's works Packed Like Sardines in a Football Stadium and Schreibstuck, and Katrina Lazaroff's full length work, Pomona Road Part 3.

She is a director of John Curtin College of the Arts Project Company, where she choreographed her first full length work, Put In Front, Left Behind in 2008. In 2009, Brooke was the Assistant Artistic Director of Australian Youth Dance Festival and a company dancer with Buzz Dance Theatre.

Brooke has also travelled to Germany to work with Phillippa Clarke on a new research project and also worked with German based company's buckels&clemens, Palindrome, battleRoyal and MS Schrittmacher.
