Claudia Alessi

She lectures at WAAPA and is completing a MA of Creative Arts.
She has lectured, choreographed, directed assisted & produced for various schools, universities, festivals, companies including STEPS Youth Dance Co & events throughout WA including The Oz Concert, Artrage, Northbridge Festival and Crossfire 2005 and 2006.
Claudia has also worked as rehearsal director for Buzz Dance Theatre, movement director for Barking Gecko and Black Swan Theatre Co.
Her 21 year career includes work with dance and theatre companies across Australia and abroad: Chrissie Parrott Dance Co, Thwack,Sydney Theatre Co, skadada, Spare Parts Puppet Theatre, Co-Loaded, Plasticien Volant of France and Foundation Jean-Pierre Perrault of Canada, Australian Dance Theatre, Legs on the Wall physical Theatre, STRUT dance & Steamworks.
Independently, Claudia produced & performed her solo work, Point of Entry for PIAF 2002 and 4by2 A Series of Encounters in 2004.
She was three time finalist for Outstanding Female Performer for the Australian Dance Awards in 2002, 2004, 2006 and jointly awarded Outstanding Female Performer in the 2006 WA Ausdance Awards for Sue Peacock's Hoofers and Drovers' Wives.
Claudia is currently a member of the Australia Council Dance Board and director of AYDF for 2009.
Claudia choreographed Alone in This/Together in This, which was performed as part of STRUT's Short Cuts season in October 2008.
Claudia is the choreographer of Buzz Dance Theatre's new work, Depth Charge, which runs at The Playhouse from May 6-16 2009.
